Cockroaches in Suburbia

Here's an interesting story that can go either way.

Are Jimmy Carter and all his Hollywood nancy-boys complete assholes....or is this just the inevitable result of giving homes to ghetto dwellers who didn't earn them, and don't know how, or don't bother to maintain them?

Could go either way.

Actually, I suppose it could be both.

  1. Ironically (or not),just a couple of days ago 3 Hab for Hum houses nearby myself BURNT DOWN.We'll see how it turns out,but one of the owners said she'd had electrical probs since moving in,etc.Soviet..er,gov'ment housing (augmented by well-meaning "volunteers")...yikes!More to come with "Zero"s policies? I've still got my "Obama=Carter's Second Term" sticker in reserve...tho it could be amended to "Clinton's Third Term",obviously, what with cabinet picks..."Change"? I'm just glad I'm far away from DC,what with the up-coming open bars and all...I hope not,but it could be embarassing, even MORE Smoking Gun mugshots to come on Jan.21.

  2. Single moms are not usually "handy" around a home.

In Florida, a frame house will quickly disintegrate all on its own. The sandy soil is given to shifting, nevermind being on an unstable trash heap. Termites bonds are worth their weight in gold, and if a community doesn't keep up the pest control and termite traps, say good bye, no matter how well built.

If you don't run the AC or have dehumidifiers, the best of homes will have mildew.

I sweartahgott, I don't know why people move here.

  3. Thanks Joan. It helps clarify. In that case though, it seems a little unfair to blame Habitat for Humanity.

Honestly, it's so hard to get a straight story these days. Reporters are ignorant, incurious morons, I guess.

"Just the facts" is okay. But "All the facts" is what's required.

    *sigh*

  4. It costs a lot of money to keep a home in the sub-tropics of Florida. These homes, had they been built in Oklahoma, would likely last for generations.

Habitat Homes in the South are a waste of money.
