"Left and right moviegoers like their war movies one way…straight up with no fruit. We’re the good guys and they’re the bad guys. We win. They lose. Extra violence, hold the lecture. Elitists don’t like it, but it is what it is." --Matt
Best (and shortest) war movie critique ever!
Found this in the comments section of a movie website. It's referencing the Ridley Scott movie Body of Lies starring Leonard DiCaprio and Russell Crowe—which opened poorly. The comment section is strongly of the opinion that anti-American films flop because Americans don't want to see them. And that preachy activist Left-tard actors keep people away from their flicks in droves (DiCaprio's global warming hectoring).
You can see the article and all the comments here.
One interesting note: The Conservative posters criticize the movies, Hollywood and Left-activist actors. The Liberal posters insult the Conservative posters with some variety of "stupid, yahoo, moron, knuckle-dragger". A perfect reflection of our real world political dynamic. So tiresome. So predictable.
The Gunslinger
As you say,Gunny,so predictable.I know it's wrong, but the ugly part of me almost hopes the next Hollywood awards show is interupted mid-tantrum by a terrorist attack on it,just to shut these vain, arrogant, coddled celebretards up.Of couse, any survivors left would immediately blame Bush for not protecting them...
ReplyDeleteApologies for "celebretards" comment.Heard NPR show today re:mother whose son was diagnosed with rare "Mosaic"(?)mongoloidism disease, which she didn't tell him about until he was older. He did ok in school without knowing. He is funny and smart. These Hollywood types are neither,by choice. They read words written by others, and stand where the director tells them, and somehow think they did it all by themselves. Most actors used to have humility about their contributions.Perspective.Sorry for use of "retard" in commenting about celebs-it's just that they CHOOSE to be,while so many sweet souls who are supposedly that way had no choice, and are not "retarded",really, they're just on a different level of awareness. At least THEY're not full of Bad Thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWhimsical notion:what if politicians started critiqueing movies? When "actors" reply "you have no right, what do you know about making movies",etc.,well....
ReplyDeleteOh, my God....the State should forcibly "invest" in film companies (re Banks) and start making casting decisions, financing decisions, scheduling decisions and controlling "content" like banning smoking and guns and violence ...maybe enforcing University style speech codes, and total political correctness—driving the writers absolutely nuts; they should start "regulating" directors, producers, "capping" stars' salaries...
ReplyDeleteWouldn't you love to watch the fucking meltdown as Hollywood went A-fucking-tomic over STATE "interference"??
I wonder if they'd get the irony...and actually see our point?
True irony is lost on 90% of 'em.They'd only whine "Censorship!" when their real mien is "Freedom for me,but not for thee, corporations".Of course, THEY'RE the biggest corporate-sponsored/subsidized hacks of all time. Most of their movies fail miserably at the box office, yet they continue to get paid criminal sums. And they yak about CEO salaries of unprofitable companies!
