Just a Rude Lout

Obie the Precious "explained" his remarks about Lipstick on Pigs...with his same old, same old

"See, this is what they do..........take a remark, make a phony scandal........I want to get back to the issues."

Every time his opponents score a good shot, or call him out on a stupidity or a mistake, he takes refuge in this argument.

I wonder if he knows how little that argument convinces. I could have given that little speech in his name. Or just played a tape of the last time he used it. (It's so damned familiar, just like his little rote speech he gives every time one of his long-time associates is revealed to be a criminal, racist, terrorist, traitor or scoundrel...)

But this time, he's also castigating the Media. Urgh......?

YES. THE. MEDIA.

His adoring chorus has actually broadcast an actual fact about him that might raise an eyebrow or two...and Precious feels the need to spank them.

Well, I suppose you can't blame him. It's certainly never happened before. It must have been quite a shock for the dear boy.

But, returning to my point...in spite of his little explanatory speech, does anyone really believe he wasn't talking about Sarah?

It's perfectly clear that his audience of Obots thought he was. They laughed uproariously at that boring old saw—during that perfect but perfectly coincidental pause he left for them.

Problem is, the only thing that makes that stale line funny is its reference to Sarah's lipstick joke.

His followers definitely "got the joke."

Don't get me wrong. I certainly don't really care about his personal insults. Sarah's not going to be bothered by them. But it's just another revealing peak behind the curtain that hides the reality of the Great Oz.

It shows, among other things, that Obie the Precious doesn't really have the subtle discrimination necessary to distinguish between a political attack and a personal one.

And it betrays his breeding...
