Our Town

This insightful letter was written by a smart friend of mine in town and submitted to the local newspaper:

Dear Editor:

I agree completely with J. Edwards' letter from last week (Secure our Borders).

In fact I have felt for years that the Mexican government, if you want to call it that,
is like a next door neighbor that won't stop abusing his wife and kids. Finally after years of abuse his family comes to your house for shelter and because you’re a good person you take them in. But now he’s demanding you continue to care for his family and that you pay any and all costs. He is not going to change his behavior in any way.

If you dare to point out the obvious, that this family is in fact his responsibility, then he calls you hateful, mean-spirited, and racist.

These poor people are not fleeing the Minutemen, George Bush or the KKK,
They are fleeing the Mexican government and its complete disregard for its own citizens. That’s a fact.

Questions: If millions of U.S. citizens were sneaking over the border into Canada
and expecting the Canadian taxpayers to take care of them, do you think the Canadians could be fooled into believing they’re being culturally enriched?

How long before the Canadians would demand that the U.S. government take responsibility for its citizens?

And why aren’t we demanding the Mexican government take better care of its own people?

Every few years a bunch of our politicians go down to Mexico to discuss immigration issues with its leaders. Isn’t that like asking a burglar how to install your burglar alarms?

Among the millions coming here to make better lives for themselves are some truly dangerous people. We have all read about the murders of a father and his two sons in the Mission district a few months back. This happened because the idiots running the city of S.F. refused to turn over the illegal alien gang member killer to the Feds the last TWO times he had been arrested for assault and weapons charges. That would be hateful.

So he was free to go out and kill three people. I wonder if the widow and mother got another speech about celebrating diversity from City Hall. I’ve read she is going to sue the city of S.F. for negligence. I sure hope she wins. You know the S.F. politicos will deny any responsibility, just like the Mexican government.

We have every right to control who is coming into our country. That may not be "progressive", but it is common sense.
