Stupid Racism

Honestly, what kind of person creates a racist ideology that actually disadvantages his own race?

It really leaves you scratching your (blond) head trying to figure out the point here. Apparently, seeking to make differences scientifically real, to justify their own hatred and racism, some Blacks have resorted to defining the races in terms of hard-wired abilities.

Whites are tediously familiar with the "White Men Can't Jump" half of it....but we don't hear a lot about the "Black Men Can't Think" half.

But in response to the fullness of this crackpot theory, Ace of Spades has this to say:

This is not just "stupid and wicked," as Christopher Hitchens bluntly and aptly termed Wright's various dementias, it's incredibly dangerous to the interests of black people: If it is true that there are genuine cognitive differences between the coldly logical and analytical "Ice People" and the warm, compassionate, musical/oral "Sun People," that means that in fact there is a good, legitimate, rational and scientific basis for favoring whites for certain jobs over blacks.

And blacks over whites for other jobs, but I can assure these crackpot racists that far more jobs demand "Ice People" brains than "Sun People" brains.

So, what? Whites will get all the accounting jobs, all the financial analysis jobs, all the corporate business jobs, all the computer programming and website construction and data management jobs, all the technical jobs from phone line repair to plumbing, all the math and science and engineering jobs, and blacks will in turn get... um, the rapper jobs and "Spoken Word Poetry Jam" slots?

This does not seem like a really good advancement ticket for Blacks. Does this not suggest analytical plantation owners running the cotton business, while happy workers sing in the fields where no cold logic is required, but where rhythm and "soul" have the opportunity to flourish?

Sigh.

It just keeps getting stupider and stupider. What the hell is wrong with these people?

Of course, maybe they're right. Would a coldly analytical mind come up with something so profoundly illogical, with consquences so devastating to its presumptive favorites?

The more the man says, the worse it gets. The "reverend" Wright is a man out of his element, out of his depth. His obvious popularity and success in his narrow and limited venue seems to have gone to his head, with the unfortunate result of convincing him that he is actually "all that", for all people.

Wright appears to be a man of considerable conceit, egotism and vanity. And that's a bad bomb in a guy whose fuse has been lit by the bright lights and heat of prolonged national media attention.
