“I probably haven’t worn a flag pin in a very long time. After a while, I noticed people wearing a lapel pin and not acting very patriotic....
"My attitude is that I'm less concerned about what you're wearing on your lapel than what's in your heart," Obama said. "You show your patriotism by how you treat your fellow Americans, especially those who serve. You show your patriotism by being true to our values and ideals. That's what we have to lead with, is our values and our ideals."
Does he think his fine values and ideals would be diminished by wearing an American flag pin? Don't they belong together? Can't they co-exist? Isn't that the whole point of America?
Does he really think the great symbol of the United States is incompatible with "true values and ideals?
And I'm thinking that since words speak louder than symbols to this pinhead, we should take his words to heart.
You know those words by Wright, Meeks, & Michelle, and Obie himself about "white people" and America...
His wife's never been proud of it, his minister wants to "damn" it, and he wants to change it into a "workers paradise".
I think he was telling us, with that one gesture, everything we needed to know about him. We just weren't paying attention.
