Bill at Home

This photo is so endearing. It's William Buckley in his home office. You've just got to love this guy. He has no middle-class hangups about tidiness. Note his dog relaxing amid the clutter.

  1. There will never be another quite like him.Well-off,but not a snob.Brilliant, but not obtuse.Direct, but subtle.Aesthete, but down-home.Sharpest knife in the drawer.A giant among dwarves, both Left and Right. Thanks for the pic-wish I'd met the man, butI guess I did, thru every book of his but the novels (guess I'll check them out, now). "Anonymous" only because I'm tired of having to sign-up for everything, and anyway, aren't all these tags "anonymous" when choosing a neat nickname, anyway?

  2. There was something about him that was so patrician, yet so real.

    Lovely man.

(The only prob with "anonymous" is that I have no way to tell one "anon" from another.)

Glad you're here though...just the same.

  3. Okay,I signed up.Really enjoy reading your blogs, honest in their exasperation at the current situation.I take refuge in remembering the odds against WFB,Russell Kirk, etc.a half-century ago.I guess Stupidity/Evil is like the "Alien" movie monsters-it keeps adapting.Where's Ripley?

    Welcome! Now you're UNIQUE!

Certainly "take refuge" in ideas and hope by all means. They are our future.

    But... BUY GUNS! :-)
