Does Evil Prove God Exists?

My new favorite author, Selwyn Duke...opines on Good and Evil and the existence of God.

A little light reading for the weekend!

Never avoid your tests, even though they may be the most dangerous game you can play and in the end are merely tests at which you are the only witness and the sole judge."
    Nietzche

Should a person choose to embrace the above as words to live by, their belief in God is immaterial. Good and evil, right and wrong resides within the individual.

  2. Ah, but you see, if it does, really, the implications are staggering! Where did it come from?

If morality is hard-wired into humans, somebody did the programming--on a higher level than material "nature".

  3. I'm not necessarily denying the existence of a higher being; I favor the idea of intelligent design myself. I also believe that morality, or the perception of good and evil is an evolutionary process.
There is no doubt in my mind that western civilization, as a whole, is more intellectually evolved than any third world country (although with the continual dumbing down of America this may not be true much longer). This is not a racist statement. It was around a hundred years ago that Africa was first exposed to western influence. At that time the natives were still running around naked, slaying one another with spears in tribal wars or for a perceived slight, bedding multiple wives and killing newborns if they believed them to be cursed. All of which were considered morally reprehensible by western man.
We did the African and ourselves a great disservice by kicking him into the twentieth century without benefit of the several hundred years of evolution that it took us to move out of the dark ages. What we have now is a people with access to all of the wonders of a nuclear age but a mindset not far removed from the bronze age.
And while this may sound like a looney ass liberal rant it is not. Morality is not hard wired, it is an achievement. We need to realize that a large part of the world doesn't regard human life with the same high esteem that we do and start dealing with our adversaries accordingly.

  4. Alphadog,

You're going in an entirely new direction...one, which, by the way, I have sympathy.

But, have you ever stopped to ask why the Black Africans needed to be "exposed" to Western Influence in order to become civilized...or "advanced".

Blacks have been around, and presumably "evolving" just as long as Whites. Why didn't they "evolve" a sophisticated, advanced society on their own.

I realize that doesn't really address your point, but making your point, you also make the assumption (rightly) that Black Africans, among others, left to themselves, for whatever reason, are WAY behind the White Man in every field of human endeavor.

(That's not racist either...just a statement of the most obvious of facts. But that won't stop the softheads and Marxists from making the accusation anyway.)

I'm leaning toward the idea that we're Spirits having a Human experience...and that we reincarnate into the material world at a level appropriate to the progress of our "souls".

More sophisticated, advanced souls are born into more sophisticated, advanced civilizations, and/or into situations that allow them to build or contribute to them...and others... do otherwise.

That's the sum total of my "theology" at the moment!

But in the real world, the differences between cultures, which seem to me to be outgrowths of race, in the loose sense, is something that we need to acknowledge. Expecting Blacks to "act white" is, perhaps, too ambitious and unrealistic. But insisting that Whites live among Blacks that are incapable of doing so, is an insult and an unfair burden to Whites who have a right to expect to live in their own culture that honors and reflects their standards and values.

  5. Gun,
Fearing becoming too long winded in my previous post I opted not to get into the whole Imperialism thing and how post WW II liberal sentiment crushed the entire ideal.
Please e-mail me (address included in my profile) and trust me not to share yours. I have quite a bit more to say on the subject.
