I Thought the Inquisition Was Coming; But It's Already Here

This is such a frightening story, I'm left almost speechless. It's not new, but was just brought to my attention by Mr. Smith in a conversation about the repression of Free Speech in Britain. The slimy, creepy NewSpeak of the Headmaster is right out of an Orwellian nightmare.

Frankly, I did not know things were quite this bad in Britain.

And in light of this story, the seemingly endless police and governmental tolerance for the screaming, shouting, cursing, threatening, hate-spewing, murder-encouraging Muslim "holy" men in UK streets and mosques is even more astonishing.

This is the very mirror of the East German Stasi, the Russian KGB, Hitler's SS. Government agents snatching people off the streets into prison because of conversations they have, words they say, thoughts they think. And the snitches, the informers...i.e. TEACHERS...oh God, I feel slimed just reading about them.

In America, we do have "Hate Crimes". But so far, it does require an actual crime to be committed. If you kill somebody dead, but don't call him names, it's just a Regular Crime. If you kill someone while calling him a nigger, it's a Hate Crime. (Of course, if you torture, rape and murder someone while calling her a "white bitch", it's not a hate crime, go figure.)

Murder, apparently, isn't a hate crime in and of itself, you see. The victim is much less offended if killed by someone who doesn't call him bad names.

We do have "Hate Speech". But that is, as yet, not a crime. It will get you thrown off the air, out of school, fired from a job. You'll require counselling, sensitivity training, etc. But unless you commit a previously defined crime at the same time, you'll just be shunned and ruined, not imprisoned.

(Although, that's how the seat-belt laws started too. They promised they would not enforce the wearing of seat-belts, except when discovered while stopping you for a real traffic infraction. That promise has gone by the wayside, naturally, and the police are perfectly free to accost, stop and ticket you solely for not wearing the seat-belt.)

Mission creep.

England will explode in rebellion or fade away into an outpost of Pakistan. And if we don't wake up and smell the Inquisitional bonfires, America is next.

The (still creeped out) Gunslinger

Update: Here's an even more amazing assault on personal liberty in the UK. A man is convicted of saying "bad words"; on the word of a witness who claims not to be sure what he said; where the target of these alleged words was never found; where the man denied having spoken them. The "witness" received an award and government praise for her role as snitch and informer. The "criminal" was relieved of nearly $1,000 in fines.

  2. At one point in time I had wanted to travel... and one of the places I wanted to visit was Great Britain. I think I'll take it off my list (or maybe move it a place of honor on the list beneath Las Vegas - a city I have never been to and have no wish to see) *sigh*

  3. I've been an Anglophile since I can remember. It may have begun with Sherlock Holmes, or maybe Jane Eyre...or even Lord Greystoke (Tarzan).

    It's all just too heartbreaking.

I can't imagine going now. I'd rather hold on to my childish fantasies than face the harsh and ugly reality.

    Heaving my own *sigh*

  4. Mr. Smith sent me over since I hadn't visited you for awhile. Glad he did, your posts are great.

Found an excellent site this morning that I think you will find interesting as you cover this type of topic frequently. It covers all of the refugees that our cesspool State Department are shipping into our country. I was astounded.
