I'm watching a show on my DVR, and I just saw a commercial for Tonka (Toys)...selling some little vehicle thing for little boys.
Please note: BOYS. Not "Children", or "Toddlers".
The ad made a point of boys being "built different"...(presumably from girls), with the clear implication that they needed tougher, rough and tumble toys, that they threw things and banged things and generally raised more hell.
I almost fell off the couch.
Where the hell were the Fem Censors when they shot this commercial?
Has common sense invaded commercial media? My God! Anything is possible.
Can there be hope???

I predict you'll never see the commercial again and there will be a hue and cry among feminists to get Tonka shut down as a menace to all good little girls everywhere... heh.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Sister. How DARE they suggest that boys are different from girls!
ReplyDeleteWymyn Studies professors are cranking up their outrage machines as we speak.
(hehe)
I find the ad pretty offensive actually. And since when is "feminist" a bad word? I feel badly for any woman who thinks it is. She's a disgrace to the very women who made all the freedoms she enjoys possible. (And every movement has its far wackos. Don't dismiss everyone as such.)
ReplyDeleteI ran around on big wheels and caught toads and wore overalls and never thought I wasn't allowed to do these things because I was "built different" (Nice grammar by the way." Shame on Tonka.
And shame on you for sneering and snickering at any woman who would find this offensive for promoting this segregation.
Caveman.
I guess I should say "Cavewoman" as you seem to value the distinction.
