Iraq Objectives Addendum

Allow me to beat an ailing horse. I just want to magnify a couple of points that, in my opinion, are critical to understand about my idea of a Pet Dictator for Iraq (see "Iraq Objectives" posted on 9/11/07)

I think it's a total win for Republicans, Bush, Conservatives...and a TOTAL crushing defeat for Democrats and Liberals and Moonbats. This, among other things, makes it a very attractive solution.

1) Liberal/Moonbat Lefties pretend they care about the troops. Setting up a tin-pot dictator who takes order from us will allow most of the troops to come home, thus taking one argument away from the traitors. (Of course, it's understood that the Liberal/Moonbat Lefties don't give a rat's ass about our troops...but they understand that regular decent Americans do, which is the only reason they exploit the issue.)

2) The Liberal/Moonbat Lefties want the troops to come home so that the war will be a failure, and this will badly impact Republican interests. (The fact that it will badly affect the country doesn't matter in the least to them, as long as they can benefit politically from an American military defeat.) To end the war with a Puppet Dictator in charge who follows our orders utterly defeats the Liberal/Moonbat objectives. We end up with a stable, US-friendly, capital market economy in the Middle East...in other words...we WIN. It'll be hard even for the Liberal/Moonbats to turn actual victory into defeat...once it's in the can.

3) The Moonbats will continue to try to foment outrage that we did not create a democracy in Iraq (the very thing they are working so hard to prevent/undermine while we're attempting to do it...and when we stop trying to do it, will become for them of paramount and critical importance). But they will get no traction with the issue. Because the American People don't care if the Iraqi people have a functioning democracy. They will never care. They will be delighted if our "boys" aren't getting IED'd every day...and if they can just forget about all the whole Iraqi problem. Installing a pet dictator will provide just the excuse for the general American public to go back to ignoring Iraq altogether.

No matter how much the Moonbats howl about how George Bush killed one Dictator only to install another, the American People just don't really care. As long as the bastard is a friend, and no threat to our National Security, and doesn't consort with known terrorists...we'll all feel perfectly comfortable with the result, and consider it a success. And everyone who supported this war will be considered winners.

They say perception is reality. Usually I disagree. But in politics its too often true. We beat the crap out of the North Vietnamese...yet the media decided to call it a defeat...and so it became.

We can use that same tactic. Abandon the often stated goal of democracy in Iraq. Get it stable, quiet and West-friendly...and announce repeatedly that we are VICTORIOUS!

And because there are no troopers there getting killed every day, Americans...who love our soldiers and really care what happens to them...will feel perfectly happy to move on dot org.

And because Americans are also very pragmatic, they'll understand and agree that such a solution is perfectly acceptable.

And because Americans like winning, they'll also be happy to consider our effort a victory.
