I have been saying for some time that Muslims are unclear on the concept of "Western Tribalism". By which I mean, when the shit comes down, and westerners decide enough is enough and go "tribal", Islam may very well be finished.
For the moment, everyone in the West is still trying hard to believe that their are millions of innocent and moderate Muslims that do not want to kill us all. But the Jihadists get more bold, continue their attacks, push and probe and propagandize and force "conversions" and the elusive "moderate Muslims" are nowhere to be found. Like any insane, divorced-from-reallity fanatic, the Jihadists will go too far, and when they do, the worm will turn, and they will be faced with an enraged West: a monster of fury and power and determination and mercilessness and weapons the likes of which they have never imagined in their worst nightmares. Their little neighborhood gangland tactics will be pinpricks to the Leviathan they will have spawned.
They think that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are the total of our resolve and ability, apparently. They seem not to be aware that because of our decency, we are fighting those wars with hands tied behind our backs, carefully avoiding hurting the innocent or giving too much offense to the Muslims. They are fighting those wars with everything they have, they are pouring all their manpower, propaganda, disease and psychosis into them, and we are easily matching them with a politically correct, managed, moderate, sensitive, merciful, carefully "nuanced", restrained prosecution.
They continue to imagine that this is our most terrible face. But they have seriously mistaken our nature because they mistake the modern West's enlightened kindness, tolerance and restraint for weakness. They have forgotten history and it's critical lessons.
Western people can be really efficient killers of nations, peoples and races. When enemies push too hard or go too far we "go Medieval" on 'em. And that is exactly what is going to happen to the Muslims if they continue on the road they are travelling. They imagine victory--because they are too small minded, to limited in their vision, too handicapped by cultural ignorance to understand the enemy they are making and the potential for their own doom that resides in the dark heart of the sleeping giant they taunt and awaken at their peril.
Islam, beware of the Western Tribalism that you are provoking.
I hope that it does not come down to this. It will be another world war bloodbath in which millions may die. But in the end, Islam will be obliterated. As practiced by the Jihadists, it is incompatible with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...and we simply, in the end, won't stand for it.
There is no possibility of an Islamic victory. Islam cannot "win" the war for world domination. The best Islam can hope for from this day forward is to be allowed to survive. And that can only happen before the great confrontation begins. Because once the War for Civilization is actually and truly engaged by the West, it will be too late for promises, negotiations, pacts, treaties or peace. Islam's only hope of survival is reformation because the only alternative to reformation is obliteration.
Here is another article, at Big Lizards with pretty much the same message. I am comforted that I am not the only one who sees this coming...because if I'm not alone in my analysis, maybe enough other people will see it so that this terrible calamity can be avoided.

You hit the nail on the head again, Gunny!
ReplyDeleteThe Jihadists will at some point awaken the sleeping giant of the West and fill him with a terrible resolve.
The results have be Germany 1945 redux and Mecca a smoking hole in the desert sands.
Victor David Hanson voices the same thought:
ReplyDelete"So far the Iranian leader has posed as someone 90 percent crazy and ten percent sane, hoping that in response we would fear his overt madness, grant concessions, and delicately appeal to his small reservoir of reason. But he should understand that if his Western enemies appear 90 percent of the time as children of the Enlightenment, they are still suffused with vestigial traces of the emotional and unpredictable. And military history shows that the irrational ten percent of the Western mind is a lot scarier in the end than anything Islamic fanaticism has to offer." “Nuclear Iran?” Imprimis, April 2007.
It may be that we play the fool when we engage the left over its sundry conniving conniptions. They are reported and celebrated in the MSM and our responses are submitted to the same media for occasional publication.
Instead, an occasional post along the lines of "they're at it again" should suffice to satisfy anyone's morbid curiousity about morbid thinking. Dr. Sanity, God bless her, can fish around in the disposal to investigate the funny noises for all the rest of us and report back on the public health hazard that the screamers are.
Certainly our personal experience of debating hard core leftist friends is ipso factory a terrific way to waste a Sunday afternoon. Or a lifetime.
Your exceedingly most utterly fine "become inhospitable" idea is an end run around 800 pp. of amnesty legislation and points the way to a new avenue of approach. Think "Ardennes Forest" and you're there. In one stroke you've saved 30 days of bioprocessor time and have positioned yourself so that recruits can find a place to land. Positive rather than negative. A lot of that happens every minute in the blogosphere already where patriots feed on the scholarship, insight, erudition, or cussedness of their own without having to waste time on "corporate Amerika is evil" or "true socialism has just never been tried" debates.
Thus, the question is, "How do we awaken that tribalism, that visceral "F___ this!" response, so noticeably missing from reports of America's supine acceptance of violation. What American dad would stand by while their little girl is attacked by a dog? Yet, those same men see an assault on the very essence of their nation and look the other way. It's astounding. Lawrence Auster describes the phenom here.
Something is shortcircuiting that brave (and what I thought hitherto to be the only natural) response to hostile incursion. "Don't tread on me" was the motto on one of our early naval flags, was it not?
That's the ticket.
Climbing down into the pit with the socialists and handwringers is an interesting diversion and tends to sharpen our analytical skills and deepen our understanding of our own values. But when we're down there in that pit we're essentially invisible. We need to be above ground and be seen to be carrying a banner around which people can rally.
Us primitives, that is.
As with Iran, so with the traitorous left. We must report their behavior and not be diverted by provactive Gaza-based rocket attacks on Israel and cries of "civilian casualties are horrid."
The raw nerve for the left for us to tweak is its greasy alliance with immigrants, rejectionists, and people looking to live off the majority.
Meanwhile, we advance our own agenda.
PS -- Isn't that what President Reagan did? Ignore the gnats and advance his own agenda? He was unflustered and unconcerned about the left.

. . . stand by while his little girl . . . .
ReplyDeletere: smoking hole in the desert sands.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that's why certain blog masters——even supposedly Conservative ones——forbid anyone suggesting things like 'nuke mecca'. (e.g. Allah over at Hot Air)
Perhaps because they suspect that we are, if sufficiently provoked, perfectly capable of doing just that?
And it scares the crap out of them?
Of course it could be something as simple as accepting the MARK OF THE BEAST...in order to play in the PC sandbox.
Ronbo, I always loved that quote...it fills me with pride every time I hear it. Well, until lately.
Col. B. "...that the irrational ten percent of the Western mind is a lot scarier in the end than anything islamic fanaticism has to offer."
YES!(clenched fist)
I feel honored to be in such lofty company as Victor Davis Hanson! I must read that piece. Thanks.
Check out today's post, The Remnant, and the linked article at Eject, Eject Eject!
It does hold out hope, and points to a light at the end of the tunnel. And it turns out the light's in US!
