Jesse Lee Peterson is a black man that declines to identify himself by his race. He believes character is more important. He is that amazing phenomenon in today's America: a frank speaker of truth about Race.
It takes great courage. You can believe that he is reviled by many blacks because of what he says about their condition, attitude, failures and self-destructive culture... ...and most appallingly, his refusal to blame whites for any of it!
He is a breath, no, a whirlwind of fresh air. Being white, I admire him because he speaks things that whites feel but are culturally prevented from saying without being marginalized as racists.
Let us hope American blacks listen and benefit from his insights and wisdom.
