Simple Questions

The political world is overflowing with "critical" issues. One just can't keep track of them all. I can't investigate all the minutiae of every question, proposal, calamity, scandal or proposed legislation. So I've come up with the Simple Questions.

If I'm going to vote—or express an opinion—on any issue, I'd better know it well enough to be able to answer the following questions about it. If the answer to every question is "yes", it's a good candidate for support. If one answer is "no", it's suspect, even if it sounds good. If it elicits two or more "no" answers, it's DOA.

Here's the list. Note: I reserve the right to add, subtract and revise them.

DOMESTIC ISSUES:

1) Does it promote traditional American values (Life, Liberty, Property, Bill of Rights, etc.)?

2) Does it promote Liberty

3) Does it promote Self-Reliance?

4) Does it promote Smaller/Weaker government?

5) Does it promote Lower Taxes?

INTERNATIONAL ISSUES:

1) Does it promote traditional American values?

2) Does it increase the power, status, territory or wealth of the United States?

3) Does it favor American Citizens over those of other countries?

4) Does it promote the destruction of our enemies-foreign and domestic?

5) Does it reward, protect and value true allies?
