God I Hate L.A.

James Taranto has a lovely example of the sort of letters you find in the L.A. Times. Three letters are included in his parade of cretins, but I've included only one. You can read the rest via the Link.
The Los Angeles Times publishes three letters in response to an article celebrating a Marine hero who perished in Iraq. The Times readers are not impressed:

Dear Editor:

If an individual were to kill 11 people in house-to-house gang warfare in South Los Angeles, we wouldn't call him a hero; we'd call him a bloodthirsty, homicidal maniac. We would fear for the future of our city. . . .

The 11 people we dismiss as insurgents are mourned by their own families, some of whom consider their actions a logical response to a foreign power occupying their land, while others grieve at the senselessness of it all.

The Times has shown its support for the troops, like we're all expected to do. But if Marine Pfc. Christopher Adlesperger had been a street gang member, we would have been subjected to articles explaining how we needed to provide alternatives to murderous organizations that provide a sense of belonging to its members.

T.C. PETERSON
Los Angeles

This is almost inspired stupidity. Particularly rich is the "logic"of comparison: If the courageous, self-sacrificing Marine, who gave his life for his country.......had been a criminal, murderous gang-member, killing his fellow-citizens for fun and profit, we wouldn't be celebrating his actions.

No shit, Skeezer.

And if Mother Teresa had run a whore house, we wouldn't be celebrating hers either.

Lethal combination of low IQ and L.A. government school education. What party do you figure she votes for?

The bitch is lucky she's not within range. All I can say.
