No Mawkish Ersatz Grieving Please

My last post was about my misgivings about the coerced and obviously false conversion to Islam of the two Fox employees that purportedly saved their lives. I linked to a good column by Mark Steyn about it. Crusing around his site, I found another that speaks to the issue. This one was never printed in a newspaper. The editors killed it, which was a spectacularly stupid move.

It's harsh. But it's a harsh world out there. And whether or not we want to accept it, we're in a fight for our lives, and we better get used to the realities of the struggle.

Given its nature, and the nature of the enemy, it is possible that any one of us might find ourselves in jeopardy of death at the hands of ROPers*. It might be wise to consider just how you want to be remembered. A Good Death is sometimes as important as a good life; indeed, it can even redeem a bad one.

If death is the only option, make it a good one.

Mark Steyn's spiked column.
