Disloyal Silence

From the moment I heard that Armitage was the leaker in the painfully contrived ("I was a deep undercover agent atttending all the best parties in D.C.") Plame bruhaha, I wondered why he or his boss Colin Powell, who also knew early on that it was Armitage, didn't step up and save the administration, the President, (you know, their boss...and to whom they owed their positions of power, and it seems to me, at least enough loyalty to tell him the truth and save him from being the target of a phoney, politically driven persecution, er, investigation) and his colleagues, Rove and Libby a whole barrel-full of hell.

That question is still unanswered. Perhaps Armitage, or his boss Colin Powell didn't notice that there was a Special Prosecutor investigating the matter, or that the entire Democratic Party and most of the MSM were enflamed with the neurotic obsession to destroy the Presidency of GWB over the incident...that accusations and conspiracy theories were flying like moths out of a closet of wool coats and that as a result the war effort HAS BEEN, AND CONTINUES TO BE undermined.

Or maybe they're just the downright, lowdown, dirty, rotten sort of people who stab their friends in the back while benefiting from their patronage and association. Apparently there are other values more important to the Powell-Armitage crowd than honesty, loyalty, truth and honor. They are clearly not gentlemen.

And why in the world does Bush surround himself with these gits?

The Wall Street Journal and The American Thinker have more on the subject.
