Dear Editor,
The Right fights for the liberty of people who want guns and to surpress the liberty of people who want abortions. They fight for religion to be represented in the public sphere as long as it's Christianity. They fight for the liberty of the unborn to live, and surpress the liberty of the condemned to live. They fight for the rights of states against the Feds until the state does something they don't approve of, then they fight for federal intervention. They fight for the liberty of Big Business to contribute millions of dollars to political causes, but want to supress the liberty of Big Labor to do so. They fight for the liberty of people to smoke cigarettes, but want to supress the liberty of people to smoke pot. They think that people and development always have priority over animals and trees, no matter how badly planned or how dire the animals' situation is.
The Left, on the other hand, fights for the liberty of people who want abortions, and to supress the liberty of people who want guns. They fight for religion to be represented in the public sphere as long as it's NOT Christianity. They fight for the liberty of the condemned criminal to live, but surpress the liberty of the unborn to live. They fight for the rights of the Feds over the states until the state does something they approve of, then they fight against federal intervention. They fight for the liberty of Big Labor to contribute millions of dollars to political causes, but want to supress the liberty of Big Business to do so. They fight for the liberty of people to smoke pot, but supress the liberty of people to smoke cigarettes. They think animals and trees always have priority over people and development, no matter how well planned, or how dire the people's situation is.
The Right shouts about "freedoms"; the Left screams about "rights". They're both full of it. They're each just working to establish their own pet privileges and deny others theirs.
Being what you might call a "Neo-Libertarian" I have an idea:
I'll trade concealed carry permits on demand for abortion on demand? I'll trade legalized pot for the repeal of anti-smoking laws? I'll trade unrestricted political contributions from unions for unrestricted political contributions from corporations. I'll trade school prayer for school sex education (both or neither!).
I don't want the Right, with their antique puritan notions, or the Left, with their post modern moral bankruptcy running my life or my country.
(Unfortunately, you can't just shoot the bastards.)
