I bring this up, among other reasons, because I was just reading a commentary on Peggy Noonan's mewlings against Sarah Palin. Apparently, Gov. Palin did not go to the correct finishing school, and is therefore unacceptable among the grandiloquent Apes-in-Lace in Washington. A group whose admiration and acceptance Miss Noonan apparently desperately desires.
I have admired Miss Noonan in the past. But I have found her increasingly out of touch with my brand of conservatism for some time. My hard, uncompromising (approaching radical) libertarian conservatism. It's as though the worse things get, the more timid she gets.
She is another Republican casualty of pride. Her own standing among the power-elite is more important than whatever principles she once pretended to have.
As things get worse, as they will if Obama is elected, there will be a culling of weak-kneed "conservatives" from the pack. We will be fewer, but we will be stronger.
Better a small, tough wolf-pack than a big, tremulous sheep herd. If you would rather be a fêted sheep than a despised wolf, perhaps you should join Miss Noonan on the "down" escalator.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you about Ms. Noonan. She's an elegant woman who's produced some good analysis but she exhibits an unsettling equanimity in the face of this danger to the country represented by Obama. The Great Global Healer is a freaking black power radical seething with the anti-white crap of black liberation theology. The white man this and poor benighted black victims that. Blacks are never responsible for their problems and forget integrating into the constitutional order and making a contribution.

This time around, h/e, on one side we've got a rather odd, lightweight, can't-we-all-get-along guy who's probably good on non-immigration national security issue but clueless on border security and the culture wars. On the other, a man with a communist father (if Obama senior was his father), communist mentor, white-hating 'nother mentor, and a friend who's been a mentor to a couple of Black Panthers and drinks the bathwater of a Saudi Wahhabi.
Nothing to worry about THERE!
On an unrelated point, if Obama is elected who will be his mentor THEN? He alway seems to need to have a mentor somewhere.

Obama's a Leftist, and by definition, they "never grow up". That is what makes them so dangerous and mindless. They are slaves to their emotions, they have no impulse control, no self-discipline. They have tantrums...and they want YOUR toys.
Yet...as you say, Noonan insists on pretending they're civilized, intellectual equals. Balderdash!
