The Religion of Progressivism

The following is a comment about a Selwyn Duke article at American Thinker. It is a succinct description of the mind of a Leftist...and why it is impossible to convince them with logic or facts.

"Again Selwyn Duke gives us a thoughtful meditation on the bizarreries of the left. They become far easier to understand by forthrightly embracing what he touches upon rather lightly towards the end: Their ideology is their religion! Ideology is religion in the guise of politics. Leftism fills the very place in their minds that traditional religion occupies in the minds of its believers: It tells them what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is evil, what is important and what is not. It unpacks the confusions of the bustling world in which we live into neat categories with guidelines for behavior, and provides a superordinate system of justification for those who live in accordance with its prescriptions and maxims. Human beings appear to have a need for some such system, and those who - in our secularized world - grow up without traditional religion equip themselves with substitutes, such as liberalism/leftism/Marxism. I found this idea of expounded at length and in detail in a manuscript called "Vehicles of Hope" available on the internet at www.pathsplitter.net, and recommend it for further detail."

  1. interesting. If mankind hadn't created this fanciful notion of how things should be and been content to face reality each day, nature could go back to eliminating leeches and parasites and we could all go back to accepting the natural order of things. Our delusions will be our undoing.

  2. The law of the jungle...with a few refinements, is a pretty good law after all...
