Take Heart

Rush Limbaugh has made the point for some time that the polls are being used to Affect support, not Reflect support.

He believes that the polls are being used to demoralize Republicans, make us think "it's all over", make us lose heart and hope, and to depress the vote...because we might think, "Why bother voting, it's a lost cause."

He's suggested that the polls will show a wider gap between the candidates with Obama ahead, for as long as possible, but because their credibility translates into profit for the polling companies, in the very end, the polls will be closer to reality, because they must, finally, be seen to be accurate.

And nobody will remember the gaping errors if they are very close to correct at the end.

It's an interesting theory.

Also, I heard that CNN reported that the McCain campaign "gave up on Colorado". It is not true. They pretty much reported this at the same time Palin was giving a speech at a record crowd, and Scott Palin was making several campaign stops of his own. Odd way to "give up" a state...sending in your most popular crowd pleaser.

It is my belief that the Old Media, no longer even giving a nod to objectivity or truth, is literally criminally malfeasant. They have betrayed the Founding Fathers' intentions, they have betrayed their sacred trust, they have betrayed their special status. I no longer believe anything they say.

So...for what it's worth, I say, let's at least enjoy Rush's optimism...for the next few days. If he's right, and McCain wins, we can heave a huge relieved sigh over the near miss. If he's wrong, things will be bad enough, soon enough. And we might as well take a moment to chill before it all falls apart.

  1. If he is right (I pray he is) then I don't think we will get much time to celibate the victory as the race riots will start soon after McCain is called the winner. . . .

What is it they say about keeping one's powder dry?
